Hi,

I'm due to get my nice new avensis t4 in a couple of weeks and am wanting to know if its possible to have the window lock button on so that the kids can't play with the windows but they can still be operated from the drivers switch without having to unlock them?

Is this something the dealer will need to do?

I can lock mine on drivers door only i can move my windows from door controls if that helps you.

Hi thanks for that. its the possibility to have use of all the windows from the front but still stop the kids playing in the back that i need.

Yeah there is a button next to the door lock button which disable's all the windows apart from the drivers window.

Yeah but that lock all the windows except the drivers. I am wanting to know if it can be set that all the windows still work from the front and just lock the back ones like on vw's etc

The pupose of the switches on the drivers door will only allow the driver to operate all the windows, therefore you as the driver will have full control over the windows, plus another switch will lock all doors.

Unless toyota have recently changed the design which i doubt as i recently sat in the latest model "which i did not like" i saw no change on the drivers door switch layout.

Hope this helps.

Same problem here. I find it very frustrating that I have to activate the all the windows (which #1 son spots and soon starts playing with his window!) to allow the front passenger window to be opened, even by the drivers door switch. It drives Mrs Oilburner nuts! The Avensis is the first car I've driven (of very many) that has such a restrictive system. On all other cars the front windows are on all the time, and when the rears are turned off, the drivers control still allows use of them. Why did Toyota see it different to every other manufacturer?

Oh well, it's a fine car otherwise.
