Toyota Carina 11

I have a F reg Toyota Carina 11 1.6 GL Automatic that has been very reliable till now.

On cold starting the automatic choke cuts out to quickly causing the engine to cut out, also when the engine is hot it occasionally ticks over at 650rpm and sometimes ticks over corectly at 850 rpm.

Any advise how to corect this fault appreciated.

Hi,

Go and buy a tin of carb.and choke cleaner.

Remove your air filter and spray the choke butterfly,venturi,and linkage until it is clean.

Check all the vaccum hoses for splits and cracks as this will effect the operation of the cold start mechanism too

Thank you for your response, but to a reasonable novice where can i find the vaccum hoses.
