I have the Toyota Auris TR 2.0 D-4d, on a 2008 plate which i bought from new. However ever since i got it i have experienced problems with the interior mirror vibrating excessively under acceleration, so much so that your view becomes blurred. Has anybody else experienced similar porblems and if so, what was the cause and more importantly the answer ??? I have tried the 1.4 D-4d which does not vibrate much at all which points to the specific engine. The petrol models are fine. I am now on my third mirror through the dealer and the problem is as bad as ever !!! HELP ?

My interior mirro vibrates at speed and with certain type of "music" I would not consider it unnaceptable, but without seeing it for real i can't give you an good opinion. if you think it is really bad, I think could argue it as an MOT failure as it is not Securely fitted See section 8.1 in the attached MOT guidelines( if it rattles it is technically loose, but there will be room for interpretation on what constitutes securely fitted )

hi aurissimo again

we are going to stop meeting like this, well be talked about.

as for the loose mirror, several years ago a friend of mine loaded a gas cooker in back of his car and it stopped him being able to use his rear view miror.he was pulled by a police motorcyclist.

in those days wing/door mirors were not always standered fitting, anyway my friend had only an offside mirror fitted,

as the policeman was in a n/side layby he did not see the mirror on the car till he pulled him up.when he did notice

there was a mirror fitted he apologized.

it seems as long as youve got some sort of rear vision, your ok.some vans dont have interior mirrors fited.

but if you have they have to be fit for purpose.

this does not help our friend with his vibrating one i know, maybe something else is causing this, such as wheel balance etc.just a thought.

My car started doing this from a couple of months back.

When stopped just working, even with music, it does not move. Nothing, stopped.

But when I'm driving it, even the most smallest road depression produces vibration on it, blurring the view. And when I pass on a not better road, god it really vibrates and gets so blurry I can't se nothing at all!

hi all

these cars with mirror problems, are they all fitted with low profile tyrs, cos they have stiff sidewalls and this maybe the cause.

my 1.6 auris has 205 x 55 tyres and while out this afternoon had to go over 2 level crossing so kept eye on mirror,no problems at all.
