Greetings from Sweden.

I would much appreciate if someone could help me with info regarding a Toyota Starlet. The problem; there is fluid in the cylinders. It's definitely gas but I don't exclude the possibility that there is water too. Not before I can certify that the cambelt hasn't jump(? don't know the english expression) some teeth... It's a AN-2E-C-85 STARLET E1 (or l) engine... I need to know which cylinder is no1, the position of the timing marks and the position of the rotor arm. The crankshaft pulley has two marks, one looks like a cut or hack, the other is a semilunar shape. The camshaft gear also has two marks; E1 and E2. I presum that in case this problem was caused by the cambelt it has to be replaced.

Greetings from the US, how did you detrmine it was a cambelt?

Cambelt breaking or slipping usually include:

Engine suddenly dieing and making a funny sound during cranking.

Engine running very poorly and having excessive pinging or will barely run at all.

They symptom you describe may be a faulty injector or fuel pressure regulator.

Is the fuel in 1 cylinder or all?

If it is in 1 cylinder I would say an injector is faulty or if all cylinders have fuel in them the fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks Robert for ur concern...

I solved the prob... by picking up bits and pieces of info and knowing the !Removed! to be quite logical in every thing they do... first I certified that the cambelt was in right position... then I read about the importance of proper sparks. I had pulled out Volvo-sparks (!)... so the rest was easy... bottom line, due to a jammed choke and wrong sparks the car was as dead... it's running now, though...
