My Agyo has had problems starting for over a year. Basically you turn the key, and nothing. A slight click and some whirring noise from the engine bay, but the motor wasnt turning over. A few goes and the car always started. Trouble was it never did it whilst being serviced. Last week I left the car for a week at the dealers for them to try (getting nervous since car is nearly 3 years old and soon out of warranty).

They eventually discovered that the starter was faulty. As well as the alternator, water pump and exhaust silencer.

Is it just me or have other folks had problems with their Aygos? Even with it now running ok, there is still rust above the windscreen, front tyres that barely last over 10000 miles (car had 4 wheel tracking at last service) and brake discs that need replacing after 20000 and the carpets worn through at 40000.

I would definately not buy another aygo, but its putting me off Toyotas, and I really fancied a Prius next. I thought the Aygo would save me a few quid whilst I saved up......

Hi blue.

sorry to hear of your problems. Firstly it sounds as if you will get the problems fixed under warranty.

Secondly it sounds as if you have a rough car! not all of Mr T's cars are like that....

My wife's Aygo is still very new so I can't comment on that, and my Peius (gen2) is only just 2 years old, but they are at the current end of a long line of toyota's in my family and never had a moments trouble with any of them - granted they have all been changed at 3 years old but even so, they are cherished and have (so far) never let me down. So keep saving for your Prius, it will definitely be worth it!

Sometimes you do get a bad'un :(

Sorry to hear of your woes...atleast they are looking to fix it at no cost to you (IE: under warranty) - so hopefully now your car will be better than new :)
