Fuel Cost Of Aircon

Has anybody calculated the cost of running the aircon?

I keep accurate records and as living in Portugal the aircon has been on constantly in August it would seem to be in the order of a decrease of 5 miles per gallon.

I had a Corolla 1.4D4D for 5 years and the decrease was only 2 mpg.

The torquier the engine the less the drag from the aircon will affect it; On the Yaris 1.0L petrol it's really noticeable, but on the D4D you can barely feel it.

During the hot spell, I had the aircon on a lot (It has spoilt me ) and the loss was only about 1-2mpg, which is pretty negligible :D
