Hi there, first post, please go easy on me!

My g/f and I are eyeing up a little Aygo that we've found nearby, but we can't for the life of us work out which model it is. If someone could ID it for us, we would really appreciate it. It's probably best that I provide the link to the listing, but it's a 2006 56 in Black, has 5-doors, alloy wheels, air-con, electric windows, side air-bags, MMT etc. The confusion comes from the fact all it says on the rear of the car is 'Aygo', no '+', 'Black' or 'Sport', but it comes with a series of extras that my investigating seems to suggest only come with these models. The only thing I can think of is that it's fallen off? Is there any kind of history of this, or should we be more suspicious?

You can find it here: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201034366750486/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/aygo/make/toyota/page/1/postcode/bs65bq/radius/60/quicksearch/true?logcode=p

Any help would be really appreciated, we just really want to make the most informed decision when buying this car,

Thanks,

Ben

Definatly the same as my car... mines a '56 plate Aygo 'Black' but does have Black written on the back... can't explain why that one doesn't especially as all the extras match up to mine... alloys, aircon metalic paint ect.

If you want my opinion its a fantastic car... but I would say that!

Some unfortunate few suffer from leaking boots and door sills but most will have been rectified if not its only a matter of replacing the seals.

Other than that, and clutches & brakes that suffer from hard use (as you would expect for such a cheap car) nothing holds them back!

I love mine to bits its great fun to drive, surprisingly practical, cheap to run & insure and looks the absolute buisness in black!

Hope that helps!

Regards,

James

Yep, defo an Aygo "Black" special edition.

The Badge stating it was black was probably removed by the previous owner.

Great little car. Got an Aygo black myself but with the Badge on the bootlid - Just in case anyone is colour blind :-)

Ah great, thanks for your help and advice guys, I'll have to ask the dealer if he knows anything about the Badge being removed, hopefully he'll have some answers which will put the mystery to bed.

We've been looking for a little city car for a while, and everyone seems to have great things to say about the Aygo; black is definitely the sharpest colour!

I'll also be sure to take a closer look at the seals on roof and doors. Is there anything else I should be looking out for, or are there any specific checks we should be doing? e.g. VIN/HIP checks?

Thanks again for your input!

Edit: Forgot to say, the other thing that confused us was that going by the photos, this car doesn't seem to have the leather gearstick, leather steering wheel, aluminium scuff plates etc. which the Black edition is supposed to? - Does your's have this James?

It's an Aygo Black MMT with A/C registered 09/11/06, how do I know? .....They posted up the Reg number, that'll teach anybody to leave their Reg number on view in a post

This particular car should have aluminium scuff plates but NOT leather steering wheel

You can get a new "Black" Badge for just over £3

Kingo

Hi again guys,

Just thought I would check back on here to update you on our situation. We did end up buying the car, and the g/f and I really love it so far so thanks again for all the advice. Parts King was right that this version does have the aluminium scuff plates, but no leather trim. One thing I did notice is that it doesn't seem to have the rev counter, which is symptomatic of a basic version, but it's an MMT w/ alloys + air con etc, so i'm still a bit confused about the origins of this little car.

All in all, we're really happy with it, and we're currently looking at some little extras/mods to make it even better. Any suggestions or threads on here we should look at?

Thanks,

Ben

Congrats, glad you like it. Have fun.

AFAIK the Aygo did not come with a Rev.Counter - base spec. or not ;)

So if you want one (highly recommended and VERY easy to fit) - then do so.

I hope you enjoy the car, it should provide great fun motoring!

yeah glad to hear you are both enjoying it - had mine 3 years last week and been fun.........

the aygo did have (may still have) a 'style' option pack which comes with alloys (5 spokes), scuff plates, fogs (i know cause i opted for it on mine!) so you could get a base or '+' or 'blue' etc with the style pack..........

hope this helps
