What Tyres?

I need to change all 4 tyres on my 2004 2.0 D4-D.

Looking for suggestions. Ideally a mid range.

Came across Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 on Blackcircles.com for a good price. Any other alternative that I should consider?

cheers

Hi, there!

I use Blackcircles as well but buy Premium range- it is about £58-59 each. Dunlop, Bridgestone, Continental. 205/55/16/91V Bridgestone Turanza ER300 - second set from there. I manage about 21-24000 miles every time.

Regards

Plamerino

I found the Bridgestone Turanzas gave off quite a bit of road noise (yet seem quiet on wife's 3 door Rav....?)

I changed from Turanzas on my previous Avensis to one of the Dunlop Sport range, and the road noise was much less noticeable.

Similar to Palmerino, though, these normally fall into a higher price band than maybe want to go to?

To Big Kev.

I found the second set a bit noisy, only 4000 miles passed( it's made in Poland, the first one was french and very quite better than Dunlop Sport). My wife just sat in the car and ask me why they make such a noise? I will go back to the garage to see if they fit them properly because the noise increases in corners. Maybe because I didn't do tracking this time or it's something to do with the fitting?

By all means have them checked, but any problem with fitting would surely have shown up before 4k miles, I would have thought. I would always have the tracking done on new fonties as a matter of course, as we have so many of these bloody "pyramid shaped" CONCRETE traffic calmers that the tracking is always going out anyway.

With you living in Scotland (well the UK) the roads are going to be wet and you don't want to buy cheap rubber nor do you need sports performance as your hardly going to corner at high speed with the suspension and weight we have. Ice performance on sports tyres are also rubbish. A tyres ware rate of 300-340 should be ideal. I think the once you have chosen are close to these rates.

The sporty FALKEN FK452 for the summer (superb good wet grip terrible on ice) or the slightly harder and more suitable for our car is the FALKEN ZE912 (good snow/ice, reduced noise, good all round). Both should cost £55-60 fitted per coner.

Keep them filled up 38psi at the front and 33psi at the back.

Hmmm... decisions...

Funnily enough the Falkens that you mention were my other choice.

I think I will go for the Hankook's based on the fact that they are the only ones on blackcircle with 5 star feedback. Plus they are a couple of ££ cheaper per corner (always important for a Scot :) )
