Toyota Lucida Water Leak

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi all. I have a leak under my car that has gradually been getting worse over the last two weeks. I have had to fill the water tank up everyday and it has been running at the normal temp. Yesterday the gauge went way too high and it was empty, i filled it back up, but it again just leaked out under the car.

Please advise me on my options as to my next move. Many thanks in advance.

If it is leaking that much you must be able to see where from??? Fill it up and let it idle and see if you can see where its leaking from, maybe a water pump or hose leaking is the most likely answer, I'm not sure how you would expect the forum to diagnose it for you? You need to take a look or have a professional look at it if you are unsure

As above, you need to take the time to look at it yourself mate as we can't see where the leak is coming from.

If it is coming from near the timing cover then chances are your water pump has gone.

jack it up on four axle stands so she is level and fire it up. Leave it at idle and look underneath for leaks. If you see none then blip to throttle a bit to build pressure and check again.

The water was coming from a core plug just by the sump. I have had it done but sadly the water is still coming out. It is running out over the top of the sump if that sheds anymore light on it for you? As soon as the pressure builds, it drips.

I put some K SEAL in and its stopped the leak :-)

i think thermostats come after the pump, otherwise the system would lock up when the engines cold. en warm allows water to be sent to rads to be cooled, then returned to the block.

If its blown a core plug then I would be thinking along the lines of a head gasket problem - especially as these cars are prone to the problem. The head gasket if leaking would pressurise the water colling system to the point of blowing the coolant out somewhere.

Maybe try getting a mechanic to check the compression on each of the cylinders?
