am just abt to Shell out 6 grand on a camper ,its a 2.8 4wd diesel auto poptop hiace.been looking for one for ages.it drives lovely its a l reg import.very good cond.,inside and out.heres the problem.if the gearbox is a wrongun,how much am i looking at to replace.recond. or new.if the 4wd is dodgey,what am i looking at there to fix it.by this time you may be thinking why the hell are you thinking of buying it.it was offered on eBay at 79995 so 6000 sounds ok.but any help is appreciated.by the way i drive a fouth gen honda prelude,but dont hold that against me........oh one other thing.the 4wd is constant,with freewheeling front hubs.

I have a 4th gen Prelude!!!! But I am getting it scrapped and putting the H22A into a Hyundai Coupe :P

What gives you reason to believe there is a problem with the gearbox and 4WD system?

If it drives fine then it will be ok.

i think it could be a bit iffy cos when i took it for a test drive,the seller had said,oh by the way when you want it to change down a gear,dont boot it,like you do with an automatic.he said come off the pedal,engine will then go down a gear.on a short test drive i got to do neither.yeah it did drive fine,but i was just wondering worst case senario what am i looking at to replace gearbox.it is 26 years old,though its only done 82000 miles

You will have to get into contact with Parts-King. He can provide you with discounted Genuine Toyota Parts.

You may want to go an find yourself a second hand system, but it can be risky.

Your choice mate. Peace of mind, or cheap?

Not to say cheap doesn't work out, it could be a great second hand system or a shite one. It's pot luck to be honest with you.
