Rav4 Loss Of Power

hi,just new to toc.my rav4 will drive fine until i come to a junction.when i go to take of the eml light comes on and goes into limp mode.if i switch of and on quickly it will start and drive fine until i stop.other times it will turn over for about 5-10 secs before it starts.always seems to stop when it comes to a junction. on scanner fault code p1226 low fuel press comes up.can any one help.

Lets start at the beginning. Your profile says Corolla and Verso but no mention of a RAV. Which model and year are we talking about?

sorry. thinking of buying this rav4,2002 2.0d4d.owner says it needs fuel filter but mate put it on computer and found p1226 fault

OK was the engine fault light on? Why did your mate check the fault codes? Is the engine fault light still working? (it should do a self test when the ignition is switched on then go off a few seconds after starting).

If it just needs a fuel filter ask the previous owner to do it and then buy it if all is OK. I've looked in my info and can't find reference to P1226 on a diesel but those codes near to it that I can find are all in the fuel system. So. Take his theory out of the equation before buying but keep in mind that there could be something else lurking. SCV's is the common one;

Under certain conditions these faults throw up associated codes. If you want to be sure, make sure he fixes it first or get about 300 euro knocked off the price in case you have to start playing with it.

cheers,thought more than fuel filter.engine fault line comes on when it drops in power.is the scv expensive.is it only available from toyota or is there somewhere else to get it
