Hi,

I'd like to add amplifier & subwoofer to my car (Corolla 1.6 -04), and i need to know

if there is already RCA plugs some where in the car, or behind the factory radio?

Does anyone know?

I don't want to replace the radio, it's good enough for me...

Thanks for your post,

I have a doubt for that there might be..

Why i think so is that, Toyota is selling as OEM subwoofer and i think there might

be ready made wiring some where in the car, as there is wiring for tweeters in A-Pillars.

I do know that also, they install that woofer under the front seat, but i couldn't find any

wirings from there.

It would save me a lot of effort to know for sure, before i disassemble factory radio and taka a look behind it..

ps. I did use search, and look old posts about this matter, but couldn't find answer..

Just to shed some light on this topic, NO there isn't any connections on the back of the Toyota OEM H/U

The only connection are for the on-board trip computer and for the audio.

I'm sure when they install the sub, they just connect it onto the wiring loom for the car, as i can't see where else they connect it to.

Hope this help

Thanks Man-bing,

I'll have to figure out something...

Hmm.. It seems like i have to take the signal for my amplifier from rear Speakers (which is not ideal)..

Do you have diagram for audio connector which is behind OEM H/U?

Or do you know where i could get one?

I'll let you know what is my solution for this case...

Hi NK

You could convert the cables from the speaker outputs to RCA leads, which could be your easiest way to do it.

I don't have a proper diagram of the wiring loom for the car, but have got a pic (not detailed, but could get another pic  Look at my signature link, and find the pic)

I'm not sure of how the loom is wired, i just got a Toyota/ISO leads, which might be some help for you, and could solve your amp prob in the process...

Give me a few days, and i'll take a few more pics of the OEM H/U and wiring loom for you ok

thanks man-bing

and you are right converting the standard lines to rca out is the best way

its just getting the oem unit out that is the problem

Ashan

I've done a few pics of how to remove the OEM H/U, well close enough, installed my own Alpine H/U, but taking it apart is still the same.

Click on my signature link, and look at the pics

Hi,

No need for that diagram, i removed yesterday H/U and measured with multimeter all pins.

I didn't found any power signal for my amp... neither RCA as man-bing told.

So i took power signal from lighter, that way my amp will shut off when i turn the ignition key off...

Funny thing was that i found there 3 pcs of 12,85V wires, several approx 6,5 V wires

and several between 0,4V and 4,5V wires..? 2 or 3 OEM plugs are empty..

BTW, H/U is PANASONIC, model.nro 86120-02260, Made in Czech.

Removing the H/U is EXACTLY as in man-bings guide! Thanks for that!

Next thing is to take the power for amp from Battery, and i will use

HIGH LEVEL / LOW LEVEL adapter to get that RCA for my amp.

I don't know yet will i take it behind the H/U or from rear Speakers.. I'll let you know..

thanks man-bing

that really helps, I did mine only a couple of months ago

the first day I got my car

but I cant remember how I did it,

just know that it took almost half a day to put back together

your way is much easier

Haha... i can now strip out and change my H/U in 20mins FLAT!!!:thumbsup:

It's so easy, when you know how to do it, but it does make it easier when you have a few pics to follow
