Engine Managment Light

hi all this is my first post on this forum so please bare with me and thanx in advance for any help you can give me

my 54 plate toyota has recently brought an engine management light up on the dash, its been to my local garage for a diagnostic scan an the code which came back is p01346 which wHen cross referenced is coming back as VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SOLENOID, basically wen i asked the garage what this was they basically told me they had no idea. Ive had a search on the web and there are alot of people sayin alot of different things could be up with it could anybody help me out???

Hi Eddie - the Variable valve timing solenoid is the solenoid which engages the different valve timing for high engine rpm's.

Iam guessing it will be mounted on one side of the cylinder head.

The Honda VTEC system uses a solenoid valve, which has been known to stick if cheap oil has been used and/or the oil has not been changed regularly. Once you locate the vvti solenoid it may be worth trying dismantling it and giving it a clean inside - it may be sticking.
