I have just upgraded my 1999 Tacoma 4x4 TRD with a Super Charger, high flow exhaust, and air intake. Everything is running fine with plenty of added horsepower, but I am looking to run a "cooler" spark plug.

The mechanic that installed the Supercharger and exhaust suggested NGK brand, are there any other opinions on this one?

ngk is the best

right along with denso u grooves if they hav em for that model

or you could waste yor money on much more expensive iridiums or sumthin

Yeah,

I contacted the NGK tech support through e-mail, and was told to run the BKR7EKU. It is a standard plug, with dual ground, like stock, but is 2 heat ranges cooler than stock. I have yet to purchase and install BKR7EKU, but plan to in the near future.

NGK tech support was very helpfull and quick with their replies.

2 !! ranges cooler...

that's a LOT, esp. for a four stroke

i herd someone with one of the first trd chargers had fuel starvation at high revs and had to mod it himself to get it to work right...

dunno if they fixed that or not !

why do you need colder plugs tho... ?

that duz not sound good at all

I have had no problems with lack of fuel at high RPMs,

or noticeable problems with the current NGK plugs.

I was just looking to cool the engine a little bit more, there was a slight increase (I didn't measure it) in engine temp.

Yeah, I did some looking at the BKR7EKU, and noticed it was for a marine two-stoke engines. Just might try 'em anyway.

i wouldn't expect that to register in coolant temp.

but i would definitely keep an eye on the plugs

lurning to read plugs is about THE most important thing in owning a infernal combustin motor

I also have a 1999 Tacoma 4x4 TRD with a Super Charger but I heard from TRD that you can't add an air intake is that true? Can I install the cone type intake?

Well,

Getting away from the Spark Plug topic, but I did not hear from TRD about not doing an air intake upgrade, so I am using a cone style intake. And, Sure, you can install anything you want too, just be carefull in your choices.

But, the real question is, what does TRD say about sprark plugs. Are you using stock? Has TRD mentioned anything about changing the coolness rating of the plug?

you need to lurn to read plugs

cuz you can tell wut heat range to use just by looking at a used plug...

or take em to a racing shop once they hav enuf deposits on em to read

and get THEM to teach you how

instead of just telling you

i wouldn't wanna be modding my motor like that without knowing how to read plugs

yeah, reading plugs, tells you abit about the engine and I am not even thinking about air/fuel mixture or timing

h-ell, I might as well just sell the truck and buy a life time bus ticket

that way I can read auto mechanics 101 while riding to work or the library on the weekend (to get auto mechanics 201)

so how many hours do you think a plug needs to be run before a trustworthy reading can be made

and yeah, I found a way to "cool the engine a little bit more".....drive it in the winter I guess I was not specific enough in an earlier posting
