Auris Wind Noise

I bought a 08 Auris 1.4 D4D van in March this year and when at about 60-65 mph a kind of wind squeal starts. It is only noticeable from the drivers side and when it was back in dealer for a few jobs I mentioned it to them and they said they adjusted the door but that it just happens in the Auris and nothing can be done about it. I had the window open a bit recently at speed and the noise seems to be coming from the mirror. Has anyone else had this? Can anything be done about it?

I have no issues with my 5 door auris... its really quiet on the move

I have no issues with my 5 door auris... its really quiet on the move

ive dont have wind noise problems with my auris and have not seen any posting with that problem.

are the door seals on your ok.

i have got it... ( What have i not had on my Auris... but I guess as the serial number is low 200's they were getting to know how to build the car... )

The wind noise i get is a high pitch whistling noise, although I will say it is more +70ish ( not that i ever go that speed in the UK, only in germany of course...)

I think it comes from the door mirror casing not fitting quite flush and combined with airflow between the wing mirror and the window.

(If you lower the window and pull the mirror in, then close the window and drive same as when you get the noise, you'll find the noise dissappears, that's if it is the same as mine... )

I have given up trying to get the "technical" department to sort this out..,

Yes, "the speedo watcher" if you can hear it it means you are driving to fast :) It is annoying thou.

Thanks Aurissimo, at least I'm not imagining it. Mine was reg'd in early 08.

Be fun trying to pull the mirror in at 70mph. :-)

It is defiantly the mirror, folding the mirror in and the noise goes

Oddly, on my Auris nothing like this happens, at any speed, nor at 100 km/h or 200 km/h....

i know this is an old thread, but still:

i just bought an auris hsd in december. it has the wind noise, and also (more irritatingly) a general squealing inside the car. taking it in tomorrow...

hopefully i'm not imagining that one!

I get this noise on my SR180 when I go over 60mph, however, when I folded the wing mirror in the noise stoppped.

I wrapped a cloth around the arm between the mirror and the car body and the noise stopped so it must be something there.

Don't fancy driving around with a cloth on the mirror so am going to look at alternatives. If I solve the problem I'll let you know.
