Agreed Good to see some Toyota supports. Not sure if a Toyota Avensis is used as a support car in every race, but like the local support

Racing was good too. I did go in the end and despite the cold the racing inc the Porsche Cup, Clio Cup and the Junior Ginetta was really impressive. In the last race was standing by the esse's and saw Plato take Shedden, by alas later found out he got a time penalty. Shame since I was supporting him, but managed to get his autograph so not bad all things considered

Oh and the rain stayed away :)

Sounds like you had a good day all in all. The susport races are always good to watch, when I have been to the BTCC over the years I've always enjoyed it.

Seem's where back to the good old days of the BTCC lots of makes, full grids and door handle to door handle racing.

The Avensis is one of the better looking cars on the grid it does look cool better that the audi's and proton, and others.

It was a great set of races today, with some good results for Toyota :)

The boy did well :D

Yep impressive drive from Wrathall, esp in that rain. It always impresses me how racing drivers can drive like that through such water esp following someone,

I like the colour scheme too, the Avensis is a good looking car imo

but still going for Plato :)

Well what great Race's on Sunday and some of the best driving I've seen in the BTCC for years and in the wet as well.

Got to take your hat's off to Frank Wrathall for his results in all 3 races.

Oulton Park next up I would think the long straights should also play into the hands of the Toyota's.

Round up of results:-

Frank Wrathall Race 1 P5, Race 2 P4, Race 3 P3 - Points 60 Overall Pos 10th

Tony Hughes Race 1 P17, Race 2 P19, Race 3 P16 - Points 2 Overall Pos 22nd

Adam Morgan Race 1 P19, Race 2 P20, Race 3 P18 - Points 4 Overall Pos 21st

Come on the rest of the Avensis driver's lets get you further up the grid.

I just need the Money and I would do it in a heart beat, off to the new agents to put the lottery on.

I'll have a crack at the Toyota Sprint Series this year a Croft and see how I get on.

Quality, I would give up my own time to work in the pits ;)

I wouldn't mind giving it a go in the pits either...although I won't be much help, I could always wash the cars(?!) to help out

Oulton Park was another eventfull round of this year's BTCC, with a lot of door handle to door handle action in bucket loads and with some big crashes, I'd hate to see the teams repair bill's after this one. Not the best round for our Toyota's but with the news coming that Paul O'neill will be taking over from Tony Hughes (Speedworks Team) for the round at Croft 24th of June. Let's hope Paul and Frank can push for the Top 10 as we know Frank can get up there. Come on Lads!!!

Oulton Park Results:-

Frank Wrathall Race 1 (12) Race 2 (17) Race 3 (9) Points 71 Overall Pos 9

Tony Hughes Race 1 (13) Race 2 (12) Race 3 (14) Points 11 Overall Pos 22

Adam Morgan Race 1 (14) Race 2 (19) Race 3 (16) Points 4 Overall Pos 23

Croft 24th June

Not a great showing for the Toyota Teams this weekend over all, as dogged by car faults.

Frank Wrathall had a good Quali session with what looked to be a good set-up and took 4th, and the rest not so Adam Morgan took 11th and Paul O'neill with hardly any running time due to problems took 18th. Paul did drive well in the races I hope he gets the chance to do a few more so he can move further up the grid with Frank.

Snetterton next up 12th Aug, plenty of time to go testing and work on setup's for the cars.

Frank Wrathall Race 1 (19) Race 2 (8) race 3 (15) Points 80 Overall Pos 9th

Adam Morgan Race 1 (15) Race 2 (20) Race 3 (14) Points 7 Overall Pos 23rd

Paul O'neill Race 1 (17) Race 2 (22) Race 3 (13) Points 3 Overall Pos 24th

Well done to Frank Wrathall in the Dynojet Toyota Avensis, Pole at Snetterton :)

Snetterton 12th August 2012

First of all a big congratulations to Frank Wrathall on a outstanding performance at Snetterton, qualifying 1st and finishing 2nd in race 1. The first pole for a Toyota since 93.

This shows how good the Avensis can be, so the MG's and Honda's can't have it all there own way.

3 good races all round one of the best tin top races this season.

Frank Wrathall Race 1 (2) Race 2 (5) Race 3 (8) Points 117 Ps 8

Tony Hughes Race 1 (16) Race 2 (16) Race 3 (17) Points 11 Ps 23

Adam Morgan Race 1 (20) Race 2 (DNF) Race 3 (11) Points 12 Ps 22

Knockhill up next 26Aug and on a update today Paul O'neill will be taking over the driving again for Tony Hughes, so come on Paul let's have a top 5 quali place from you Good Luck!

Why o why doesn,t Tony Hughes give Paul O,Neill the driving job full time. He did so well at Knockhill!!!!!

Regards Clare

And when is Jason Plato going to give up Moaning

Another great weekend for a Toyota this time driven by Paul O,neill like Clare say's he should get the driver full time then there would be atleast 2 toyota's in the top 10 all the time.

Frank's weekend was not so good after a good quali session on the saturday.

Frank Wrathall Race 1 (dnf) Race 2 (dnf) Race 3 (dnf) Points 118 Ps 10

Tony Hughes Race 1 (16) Race 2 (16) Race 3 (17) Points 11 Ps 23

Adam Morgan Race 1 (10) Race 2 (dnf) Race 3 (11) Points 24 Ps 21

Paul O,neill Race 1 (6) Race 2 (4) Race 3 (6) Points 36 Ps 18

Rockingham up next 23rd September.

Rockingham 23/09/12

After a very wet Rockingham giving us fans plenty to keep our eyes on, and some propper tin top action.

Frank W managed to keep his quali position in the top ten, and Adam Morgan to get pole in the reverse grid race.

Not overall the best weekend on the results side for Toyota's but ok. Silverstone up next 7/10 fingers crossed its dry and we can get some Toyota's up into the top 10 of quali and Tony Hughs gives Paul Oneill the drive.

Frank Wrathall Race1 (11) Race2 (5) Race3 (12) Points 138 Ps9

Tony Hughes Race1 (15) Race2 (17) Race3 (17) Points 12 Ps24

Adam Morgan Race1 (dnf) Race2 (9) Race3 (11) Points 36 Ps20

DynoJet Team now sit 7th and Speedworks sit 9th in the teams standings.

Come on guy's you can do it!!

Silverstone 07/10

A good start to the weekend with Fank qualifying in 3rd and Adam in 9th. All going well in race 1 in 5th & 6th and with cars dropping like fly's, we would have moved up couple of places then one toyota try's to overtake another toyota and ends with both going off the track not good. All 3 races where very event full and ends with Plato only 15 points behind Shedden going into the last round at Brands.

Frank W Race1 (DNF) Race2 (12) Race3 (DNF) Points 142 Ps12

Tony H Race1 (15) Race2 (17) Race3 (17) Points 13 Ps25

Adam M Race1 (16) Race2 (14) Race3 (8) Points 46 Ps19

Hopefully we will see 2 flying Toyota's at Brands and in the top 5 or 6 with out taking each other out please.

What a race weekend it was at Brands, great to watch, a Toyota Win and a championship to close to call.

Matt Neal and first-time winners Aron Smith and Frank Wrathall shared the victories in today’s final three races of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season on a wet Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. But it is Gordon Shedden who tonight leaves the world-famous Kent venue as the newly crowned 2012 Champion. Shedden, from Fife, becomes the first Scottish driver to lift the most coveted prize in UK motor sport since his own hero, John Cleland, in 1995…

Looks like it going to be a year next year aswell with alot of teams already buying or upgrading to NGTC cars role on 2013.

Tony Hughes is also calling time on his career with the Toyota Speedworks team, looks like there trying to get Paul O'neill in the car for next year which would be a great move.

Adam morgan will stay so he can improve and get further up the grid.

First pic: Ciceley Avensis

The newly-formed Ciceley Racing team’s Toyota Avensis – to be raced by Adam Morgan in this year’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship – will look.

Morgan, who raced an Avensis for Speedworks Motorsport in his debut season in 2012, has already announced he is forming his own team for this year with the backing of family business Ciceley.

Now we can show how the blue and black machine is expected to appear when it lines up on the grid for the opening round at Brands Hatch on Sunday 31 March.

Morgan from Preston told btcc.net: “I really wanted something that looks quite aggressive but also stands out from the rest and I think that’s been achieved. The livery also fits Ciceley’s corporate colours.

“The car we will use is based on the ex-Frank Wrathall/Dynojet Shell from 2011 but with all the latest 2013 upgrades fitted. Currently it’s stripped back to a bare Shell and we’ve just started building it up – the plan is to have it finished mid-February so we can begin testing later that month.”

Newsham signs with Speedworks

Dave Newsham will race a Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis in 2013’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after signing with the Cheshire team.

Inverness racer Newsham was one of the revelations of the 2012 BTCC season as he achieved his first two race wins in Britain’s premier motor racing championship at the wheel of an older S2000-spec Vauxhall Vectra.

For 2013, though, he will now get his hands on a more superior NGTC-spec machine in the shape of Speedworks’s Toyota which he tested recently at Donington Park.

“I am absolutely over the moon about this deal,” Newsham “I’ve been talking to Speedworks for a couple of years and now we’ve finally been able to do a deal. They are a very professional outfit, the engineering team there really know their stuff and my car will have all the latest developments on it. I cannot wait to get started.

“With the deal done so early it hopefully means we will be well prepared going into the opening round at Brands Hatch (30/31 March) and can target big points straight away. I certainly believe we will be able to challenge for the Independent drivers’ and teams’ trophies. However, I have to thank Tony Hughes who has driven for the team for the past two seasons – without him I don’t think I’d have been able to do this deal and his company’s name, Hughes Safety Showers, will be loud and proud on my car.”

Speedworks team principal Christian ***** added: “We are very excited about Dave joining us for 2013. He knows how to win from the front and how to conduct himself when in the thick of a battle. I’d also rank him as one of the fastest drivers on the grid and he is just the sort of driver who can help us build on the very encouraging season we’ve enjoyed in 2012.

“We have yet to decide who will race our second car and we are in discussions with several more top-class drivers.”

If you want to sneak a peek at the BTCC runners & riders ahead of the Brands Hatch Easter race meeting, the place to be is Donington Park on Thursday afternoon (21 March) for the annual pre-season media and test day. The good people at Donington are allowing race fans in for free from noon... Go and wish the Toyota Avensis drivers Frank Wrathall, Dave Newsham and Adam Morgan all the best for the coming season...

Taken from Donnington Park Website:

British Touring Car Championship Pre-Season Media Day

March 21st

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championships traditional pre-season Media Day launch will this year take place at Donington Park on Thursday 21 March.

The event is by far the biggest of its kind of any motor racing championship in the UK. Close to 250 media representing international, national, regional, lifestyle, consumer and specialist TV, radio, print and on-line titles attended in 2012 as teams and driver line-ups were officially announced and sponsor liveries unveiled.

Indeed, the event has also become a golden opportunity for both existing and new sponsors to showcase their participation in the BTCC, one of worlds most popular motor racing championships.

Donington Park, located just off junction 23A of the M1 on the Leicestershire-Derbyshire border by the East Midlands Airport, has a long-standing relationship with BTCC. It has been a part of the BTCC calendar every year since Tom Wheatcroft opened the track in 1977 and, since that date, it has witnessed some of the championships most dramatic moments.

Doningtons Managing Director Christopher Tate commented: Donington lies at the heart of British motor sport and we saw great racing from the stars of the BTCC here last April. Now to be invited to host the famous BTCC Media Day is not only an honour but also a great compliment to the staff here in acknowledging how far the continuing revival of the circuit has come since we re-opened in autumn 2010. We look forward to a great day here on 21 March.

BTCC Series Director Alan Gow added: Were delighted that Donington will host the launch of our 2013 season. As well as providing fantastic racing, Donington is also a great circuit for teams to test their latest cars and developments on so it will be interesting to see who sets the pace on Media Day, in the afternoons officially timed test session. We very much look forward to welcoming the media to Donington as we count down towards the start of what promises to be another outstanding season of action.

Donington will host the second of next years ten BTCC race events, on the weekend of 20/21 April. The opening round of the season will take place at Brands Hatch, Kent on the weekend of 30/31 March just nine days after this Media Day.

Free entry from 12 noon
