Alloy Wheel Locking Nut Key

Hi, I've just bought a damaged Rav4, see pics below, did it belong to anyone here?

I've come across a problem, basically I cant find the alloy wheel locking key, so cant get the wheels off to get it repaired! Should the key be with the tools in the compartment behind the rear seats? Is there a special "hiding place" for they key in the Rav4? I have found the jack under the drivers seat and a few tools in the compartment above the rear arch.

I know the locking nuts are McGard, I dont have any documentation with the car so cant order a replacement key, does anyone know if Toyota would have this information if I go see them once I have a log book?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Looking forward to getting it on the road, its an XT-R D4D, will post some pics up once its repaired!

Unless it has been changed since I bought mine , I have a small plastic box (no jokes please) that has the key , serial no. and a plastic tool to remove the locking wheel nut cover on my 4.2. What year is it? Have a search on this forum as there have been thread(s) about this before.

Obviously it would be nice to find the correct key, its probably wrapped in a rag tucked somewhere.

You might want to consider a quick phone call to the previous owner.

However, don't worry if you cannot find it.

Most good garages or tyre fitters have a set of special sockets which will usually have those lock bolts off in a second.

I had a similar issue when I got the RAV and there was a little OEM plastic box containing the necessary stored under the front passenger seat keeping the jack under the front driver's seat company. Silly place for both if you ask me

get a pic up of the pattern on the locking wheel nut - i may be able to get you the key number for it so you can order one.

pm it to me if you dont want people to see it publically.

Thank you for all your helpful replies, I've finally got the car back fully repaired, in time for the snow! If the offer still stands, I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me the code for the locking key, here is the picture:

Thanks - I'll post some pics of the car once the snow clears, really happy with it so far...

Looks like a flying squirrel. I've got a spare one somewhere, if its the same shape you can have it.

So if you've got a spare flying squirrel, what do you do with your "everyday" flying squirrel?

I know, silly question, fly it I suppose.

Looks more like a squashed hedgehog to me..............

I send the flying squirrel to look for the aardvark if it gets out, why what do you do with your flying squirrel? I just squashed a hedgehog and it doesn't look like that key. I need a shovel now..........
