Popping Out Of 5Th Gear

Dear all thanks in anticipation

I have a 53 plate T4 D4D manual gearbox 96,000 miles, yesterday I was driving in 5th gear when the problem started.

When I was accelerating it was fine but as soon as I lifted off in 5th gear it popped out of gear (gear stick moves out of 5th into the neutral position)

It is fine in in the other 4 gears

I have been told by a friend the Syncro mesh has gone (I am totally green - he might has well been talking double Dutch)

Is it going to be expensive to repair? basically the car is worth about £3000 is it worth fixing or is it time to trade it in!!!!

had the same problem , an issue with the claimed toyota reliability.

new gearbox, cost me e1000 and also had the dual mass flywheel go about 6 months earlier (e1250)

oh dear sounds an expensive problem - might be time for it to go!!
