Help.

All 4 tyres on my 2008 Yaris are wearing unevenly on the outside. The car has done just over 10,000 miles. The tread depth is 1mm less on all tyres on outside edges.

The front tyres have 5mm tread in the middle and 4mm on the outside, the rear tyres have 6mm in the middle and 5mm on the outside.

I have had independent full wheel alignment checks carried out and all is within tolerances! The pressures are always checked and are kept at 33psi.

I have had the car since new and it has never been in an accident or been raced.

The local Toyota dealer can find nothing wrong.

All opinions welcome, please !!!!

Its normal. If you think about it when you go round corners all the weight/pressure goes to the outside of the tyre so it has to grip that much harder, so wear is going to be more.

Hmm.. I am afaid I disagree.

Tyres should wear evenly unless you have some very unusual driving habits.

If your 4 wheel tracking was done by Kwikfit, very likely it is wrong based on my experience (a long story).

ATS are much better imo.

Having re-read the original post, the centres of your tyres are wearing less than the edges? Is that correct?

If so, persistent underinflation...

What pressures are your tyres at? And don't tell me ATS checked those as they - along with all tyre fitters - just stick in 2 bars as an average..

You do check your pressures monthly?

I got my Yaris done a while back at my local National Tyres centre. The car is perfectly straight now, had tracking and 4 wheel alignment done.

I have used ATS, Kiw-fit ect before but i would allways go back to national tyres, great service using the latest laser devices and good value for money.

No, only the outside edge of each tyre is wearing 1mm more than the rest of the tyres. The inside edges ( towards the middle of the car )are wearing the same as the centre of the tyres.

The pressure is checked regulally and is kept at 33psi.

I have also now been to NTS and they said that the set-up was within tolerences! ( they did not charge me for this! )
