Toyota Iq Rattling

I have just had a new Toyota IQ 3dr Multi-Drive 60 reg for two weeks. I have straightaway experienced problems with this car as lsited below:

1. There is a rattling/squeaking noise coming from the silver cd column and also from the steering control column on the dashboard.

2. The drivers seat always squeaks and makes a clicking noise everytime i move.

3. When its windy and i travel at speed over 40mph there is a funny sound coming from the back door (boot).

Anyone else experiencing these problems? and what are the solutions?

I have taken it back to Toyota who are ordering a new seat from a EU country.

But why so many problems from a new Toyota car?

My iQ also rattles around the silver CD unit on the dash and above 60mph when its windy it sounds like the hatch is open! I have taken it back to Toyota but they haven't solved this yet.

  • 2 weeks later...

I also have the random over 60 mph noise from the back - I put it down to the aerial.

I am surprised that it is not only me who has these problems. I have taken it back to Toyota to fix all these problems. Lets see...

I do think it could be the aerial also.

The rattling from the cd column is very annoying! It looks great but not stable!

The sound from the back is really annoying, I've started a thread about this issue like 2 months ago but nobody know how to fix it.

I think i know what it is. It is the 'purply' plastic on the frame of the car when you open the boot door open. Its hard to explain. But just tap it and it rattles. So Toyota will sort it.

I've had my iQ3 for nearly a month and it has already developed a rattle somewhere in either the door or the dash around the driver. My partner's brand new Prius' dash started rattling after 2-3 weeks too.

Many ppl have made assumption but nobody can yet to confirm the source of the sound and tell us how to fix it :(

If I have purchased my IQ directly from an IQ dealer, I am pretty damn sure I will annoy them everyday till they fix this problem. :P

We have four brand new Toyotas in our family and had problems with them all!. We have Aygo, 2 x Yaris and IQ - Toyota build quality is not brilliant that's for sure...Expensive cars to buy but they are made with cheap components

Alot of small problem, but in terms of engine durability, I think Toyota really stand out from other brand.

My family have had a Toyota Prado, Camry and Celica before and they all ran over 150,000km without any major engine issue.

All of the above models you mention are from the days when Toyota quality was very good....the newer Toyotas are not as good quality as the older models...sad but unfortunately true

IQ3 Auto

Pleased to say IQ is rattle free. Slight wind noise at 65 mph plus.

Must be lucky !!

But it does mean that Mr T can provide rattle free cars. Keep on at the dealer. :argue:

I had an annoying rattle, which I thought was coming from the driver's door. However, when I last cleaned the car, I found that there was a stone (about 1.5 - 2 cm diameter) on a 'ledge' at the front of the rear wheel arch. Since removing the stone I have not noticed the rattling ...
