I have just commited a terable sin, I have gone and sold my T180................... But I've gone and ordered a brand spanking new XT-R AWD Yipppeee !!. The only problem is that I have ordered a style pack with premium side steps and mud flaps, only to be told that mud flaps are not compatable with side steps. Is this true ?. Can anyone advise please.

Hey Bugsey congratulations on your forthcoming arrival.

Having looked I can't actually see any fitting instructions for mud flaps on the latest two revisions of the 4.3 RAV in the Toyota AIM list which makes me think they aren't available.

Kingo, where are you? Perhaps you could confirm one way or the other

I think the side steps double for the front flaps but I'm pretty sure the rears will fit as mine has them.

I suppose you could wait until you get it then try a set of fronts up to see;

Thanks anchorman, I omitted to say that I have kinda gone the whole hog with sat nav, style pack, touring pack and protection pack, the whole nine yards. As toyota don't make a T180 no more which is a shame.

Blimey thats a lot of protection. I hope you were wearing a condom when you ordered it!!!

It remains to be seen but I think you might be suitably impressed with the performance. OK not a T/SR180 but I think you will find it a very good compromise - somewhere between the two old models. However, it is a different sound and the fuel economy is very good.

You need to give us a report on how you find things. Now mine has run in it will catch pigeons when I gun it, so much so there is a little bit of torque steer.

Will do anchorman. Thanks for the reassurance, was a tad worried about about the loss of a few horses under the bonet.

another thumbs up for the XTR over the T180, seriously you won't notice the lower Hp and with 30% better fuel economy over the T180 you can soon justify a few extras to make up the spec.

Sorry... (nned to try to be respectful here which is difficult).. but catching pigeons with an oil-burning 5 door road roller seems a bit extravagant? Unless the pigeons are wood pigeons made of wood?

Course you could try catching ma dove?!

You keep forgetting that your two Milleniom Falcons are not "normal" petrol engines or you would realise that these thing are pretty quick. OK there would be no point us going anywhere near Crail but for un-doctored ones thye aren't bad!!!!

I guess its only a matter of time before somebody fits a Kingo chip which would be intersting........

I know, I know, still not worth going to Crail!!!

It's just the front mudflaps that are not compatable with side steps, you can have rears

As we have said before, it's a pigeon......or is that just impossible

I think that was the pigeon anchs was after . On reflection, maybe it is safer if yours is a dove

Personally I think it will look fine and you will benefit as they will help to reduce some of the muck that gets thrown up. The rear end of the 4.3 sucks dirt like a Dyson and gets really filthy very quickly.

Gotta go with Davrav on that one Bugs.....you will permanently be scraping muck off the back end without the fludmaps.

Big Kev.

Sorry for stating the obvious, but is there a difference on the later models as i have sidesteps + f/r mudflaps

and there is no problem, there will be a way to fit them  Stew P.S. if you fancy chipping it I've had mine on since new (virtually) no probs with servicing, warranty, or anything else, although my car is serviced at Lindop (kingo) who also fitted the "chip"

It's the those new 'stylish' side steps [the one's Anchs hankers after] Stew. They have a moulding each end that fits snug to the bodywork/overfender. They don't leave a gap like the 'classic' steps we have.
