Just How Difficult Is It...

To find a black, MR2 TBar Turbo in good condition?

I'm still weighing up my options as to what to do with regards to getting a turbo...

I've seen a slightly modded one on the 'trader for £3250 but it's probably gone anyway.

Finding older cars with decent paint jobs can be difficult. Have you thjought about having one resprayed. I suspect you would be looking at anywhere from £500 - £1000. You would have a top notch car after this though (depending on who sprays it!!). It's always best to put mechanical soundness over finish - though obviously there are limits!!!

That's a pretty nifty rate for a respray, I must say.

I was under the impression they cost in the region of £2000 or more!

Depends on what you want done. If you want a colour change in fancy flip paint, then yes £2000 will be around your price. However, a simple respray i.e. same colour will be a lot less, since the inside parts of the car don't need spraying too.

Good thinking.

I'll bear that in mind when I've acquired a few more "battle scars" :D

It's hard to find a nice 2 full stop .. there are a LOT of dogs out there ..

Nothing truer than that, there are an incredible amount of dogs out there. I've lost count of how many I looked at when buying mine, and that was 5 years ago. Unfortunately in too many cases, people buy them to drive like idiots, the youngsters (in particular) proceed to ramp the cr*p out of them, and unfortunately at the same time, due to heavy insurance costs etc, find they don't have the money to maintain them properly. When they finally come to sell the car, they're dogs due to damage sustained from limited oil changes, worn brake pads etc.

It's worth finding a gem - mechanically at least - it will save you heaps in the long run.....
