2007 Sat Nav Unit - 'check Cd'

Evening all, my sat nav unit is displaying 'Check CD' more and more often now. It doesn't matter whether the discs are new or old, CD-R's or CD-RW's, or mp3's or wma's.

It was mentioned in the forums before that this would only get worse but I can't seem to find who said this. Thus I can't ask if it was ever sorted or a new head unit was needed.

If I were to update my Nav Disc would this do a firmware update if necessary or does it just do the maps?

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Hiya, I'm completely non technical, but if it happens even with new cd's it sounds like the cd player itself is wonky... Perhaps a warranty replacement???

I would mention it to Toyota but my car is over 3 years old.

Try a can of air duster in the slots first incase it is a bit of dust causing the laser reading problems http://postcode.royalmail.com/portal/rm/trackresults?catId=500185&pageId=trt_rmresultspage&keyname=3A_track&_requestid=77005

I will try this thanks. I'm pretty good with my hands so I may take the nav unit apart and have a good look around whilst cleaning it.....But just curious as to why you posted a link to royalmail website. Do they provide a head unit cleaning service..

Thanks kingo. Would this be a quick fix, the alignment, if i were to take it to my local dealer. Or does it need to be sent away?

Thanks...........
