Toyota Tuner

Hi All,

I'm new to the world of Toyota and this forum, recently bought a revised Celica T-Sport (2002) and find it quite nice.

I did originally ordered a Focus RS, unfortunately, couldn't wait for 6 months, hence got the Celica instead.

I don't regret it, but it just doesn't have enough poke, ok , it's only done 1300 miles, but could really do with a little more poke out of it, so I have a couple of questions:

i. Who is the equivalent Mugen tuner for Honda to Toyota?

ii. What sort of power can I tune it to? May consider tuning after a year or so.

iii. Does a sport filter make make much difference?

I am based in UK.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance - !Removed! Simpson

Hi mate,

You want to check out HKS and Blitz, these are the top Japanese tuners out there. There gear can be expensive but you get what you pay for!!! An induction kit could release anything upto an extra 20bhp, a decat pipe or sports cat would help as would a back box (or full system if the wallet allows). An ECU remap or chip change can boost power to 230bhp. There is talk of a supercharger being developed so this could well be available by next year. If you want an instant kick up the ***** then nitros oxide is the way to go with power gains upto 100bhp!!! for relatively little cash (£600). Hope this helps. Cheers,

John

Just drive the car above 4,000 rpms, so you can always shift down to lower gear for lift to kick in... Celica is like 5%-10% faster than Corolla TS and my baby flies... as long as you drive it as you should - high revs...

  • 3 months later...

You need to rev it between 6-8 to really feel the power. And it screams................ EXCELLENT!

You will love it.

Around town it's pretty cheap to run, but the power is there when you want it.

Listen for the pitch change when the revs climb past 5 and hit 6 and over, it's brilliant.

Enjoy!

Surely the engine needs to losen up... at 1300 you would still be running it in!

give it 5000 miles and you will feel a difference
