:yahoo: Hi all, just wondering how easy(or not) it is to remove the dash centre part to change a bulb behind the heater switch's..? i have a Avensis 2008, and the illumination behind the heater switches has gone off. there the circle switch type adjusters, not the climate controll type buttons..! was wondering is it a dealer technician job, or can one do it one's self.? iv looked in manual and it doesn't show you how to remove the front parts to get to the bulb behind the switches..! and lookin at it, it doesn't look straight forward so im not gonna start forcing stuff off, hence the post.. so thought id just see what ppl say before heading off to the dealer and making a fool of myself coz it may be easy, LOL.. thanx for any help and suggestions...

The attachment may help. Most of these panels are held in by clips. Prise them off with a flat head screwdriver wrapped in some tape.

Hi,

Maybe you'll find the information in the below link easier to follow.

It's the TNS700 Navigation RHD installation manual and shows the location of the clips.

At some point they take out all instruments from the central console, so sooner or later you'll get to the piece with the failing bulb(s).

I would replace them all, while you are there ....

Good luck.

 Cheers Thermal and that is a Tremendous graph diagram.. though mine is a T2 model and i dont have the sat nav built in, and my heater controlls are one's you turn not the button press digital climate control type..! nevertheless it looks alot similar in dismounting so thanx again..! where did ya find such a detailed drawing.? maybe i can get 1 just for the standard radio disassemble rather than the sat nav type.! and good idea about changin them all whilst its off.. LOL.. p.s. i went to the dealer and they give me a parts drawing, but that wasn't anywhere near like the 1 you'v posted for quality.! im thinking i have to undo bolts and stuff now so im having thoughts about the whole ordeal completely and weather or not to just leave it.. annoying as it is..!

Hi,

On this site: http://www.toyota-tech.eu/Aim.aspx?menuitem=2 you can download all installation guides for all available options for all (recent) Toyota models.

The link in my previous post was just an example.

Follow the Link and press the "Search AIM" button.

The accessory installation guides are all free.

Repair guides and workshop manuals are Payable information, and cannot be downloaded as far as I know, only viewed.

I would say, get the correct manual for your model/year, study it and go for it.

It's just a couple of clips and bolts, not too difficult.

Did you get it out OK, I have the same problem, the pdf link didn't open up for me. I did print the panel section from the workshop manual, but it is still not clear if it is clipped in, there is screws showing from the rear.

Both the gear shift surround and the trim insert in the dash simply clip into place. Carefully prise them off to reveal the four bolts that hold the aircon and stereo in place.

I only had to release the bottom 2 bolts to get rid of the phone cradle bracket but it all looks simple enough to go further if needed.
