1991 Mr2 Standard 188K Mi

Recommended Posts

I figured I'd ask for a 2nd opinion before I venture off and start spending money.

My 1991 MR2 loses rpm while idle in neutral.

It takes a lot of gas to get it moving when in gear.

I can smell gasoline

Engine shakes.

We just recently had a heavy rainstorm and I drove through a really deep puddle, problems occurred shortly after.

My dad thinks its the distributor cap as the spark plugs are in fine order.

My other friend thinks timing belt (I have an approaching recommended change in 2000 miles, I'm currently at 118k mi).

Thanks.

PS: typo in the thread name. I only have 118k, not 188.
