Avensis Tuning

Hi to all..

I have a 2003 avensis 2.0 vvti t3-x. I installed a k&n filter to it and the sound is a little better... but still i want a little more power and grunt.

I know its not the most sensible car to tune, but i love it so much and just want to enjoy it to the max!

If anyone can give me few tips that would be great!

Cheers guys!

jacques

The only way to get more power from modern cars is to get the ECU remapped.... I suggest you give up such thoughts of getting more power from a car such as the Avensis and look for something like a Corolla T-Sport or similar huh.gif

With remap you can get extra 7hp, but probably you will not feel them. I went to several chip tuners house and every one said that ECU for Avensis 1.8 and probably for 2.0 is set up to maximum almost 90%, it has small reservs which is rare for today's cars. Ramping ECU would cost me 250 euro and they said it is not worth it.

Better to leave it originaly.

This Topic has been covered before, and (if I remember correctly) the consensus was that the only thing that would really matter on these engines was installing a Turbo with Intercooler and then remap the ECU.

Which of course voids any form of warranty.

The conclusion was, if you want sportscar performance, buy a sportscar.

You can change the sound a bit, get the extra 7 bhp, lower the springs and spend lots of money on parts to make the car look aggressive, an Avensis will never become a sportscar.

I would dearly love to know how on earth would any of these 3 mods improve engine output. Not ancedital evidence but hard facts.:)

The only gain these items would give is a slightly smoother running and tick over.... no power increase would be achieved at all huh.gif
