Wiper Arm Removal

Hello

Anyone pulled the front wiper arms off a 4.3 Rav?

Tried to get mine off by removing the nut and giving them a wiggle but no luck . Don't want to use too much force until I check with you guys first.

Cheers and Regards

Alan

After removing the nut, grasp the arm with both hands near the pivot point. Gently rock the arm to and fro whilst pulling towards you. It should eventually break loose. If not, let a few drops of penetrating oil soak in for a while and try again. The serrated shaft is tapered, so it should be fairly easy to remove once the thin coating of rust gives way.

Yeah as JB says it takes quite a bit of force and I grasp the arm at the point where it pivots up if you fold it back for washing etc and start pressing down then pulling up firmly. Your knuckles will stop the screen getting damaged but that few inches gives you some leverage to break the joint at the tapered spline. When it goes, keep one hand either side of the fold up joint to keep it forced out flat because the spring in the arm will try to jam it on the threads where the nut came from.
