Hi Folks,

As the title says, has anyone ever fitted the later type (1998) of rear light clusters to the earlier model (1995) ?

I have a set of the later light clusters and the wiring loom that I want to fit, but before I go ripping out all of the rear trim panels to get to the connector plugs, I was wondering if the connector plugs at the end of the cluster that connect to the rest of the loom are the same ? I know its not so straightforward as simply switching over the bulbholders as for some reason, they used a completely different type of bulb in the later cluster and the older bulb holders do not fit the later cluster.

The rear panels look like a real pain to remove and I did not want to go down the route of removing the panels only to find that the plugs are different.

Many Thanks

Hi

On mine, the rear light cluster comes off by removing a screw from the wee metal embellishment strip at the bottom of the cluster and the whole lot falls out the back. Didn't think there was a need to get yer mitt inside the panel.

Have a look.

Hi, as Bothy says, the whole unit will drop out if you undo the screw at the bottom of the cluster which you will see when you open the rear door. Ease that strip of bobywork trim off first when you undo the screw and put it safe, out of harms way! I don't think you should have any trouble swapping the clusters over.

But I am swapping out the entire cluster including the wiring and the plug for the wiring sits behind the interior trim panel.

Ok job done.

Wiring and connectors are exactly the same. You have to pop off the side panels on both sides, top and bottom to get to the connector.

Remove seat belts and screws holding lower and upper panels in place.

Blimey, see what you mean now! Glad to hear you've sorted it. They look quite nice don't they. :)
