Iq Bumper Corner Covers / Protectors

Can you get covers to go over the iQ's bumper corners, the rear in particular?

Someone reversed into my iQ last night and I reckon covers will be enough to salvage the damage and an easier and cheaper solution, especially as mine came with rear parking sensors. The paint has been taken completely off, so T-Cut isn't going to do the job. I am considering a new bumper, but need to find out the price. There are a couple on eBay, but they're already damaged.

Does anybody know the cost of an Eclipse Black rear bumper for a 2010 iQ3 including VAT?

The damage doesn't look as bad in the daylight.

Nothing like this has ever happened to my previous cars, none of which were ever new when I bought them and all of them much bigger than the iQ, so it's typical that it happens to the only new and physically smallest car I've ever bought in less than a month of ownership. To say I am gutted is an understatement.

I've had a price from an out-of-town Toyota dealer and they quoted £315.33 inc. VAT and delivery for a painted bumper. I'm going to see what some of the local paint specialist say before I definitely drop that amount of money to fix it. I'm not happy driving it around like it, especially when it looks like it's something I've done; that annoys me even more. At the same time I'm not happy about repairing something that's not even a month old and would prefer to replace the part, but I'm concerned about the colour match in both scenarios.

why not try chips away, they came to my house did my bumper, did a good job, took about 2 hours charged me £120, you wouldnot notice it had been done, hope this helps, good luck.

Out of interest, what colour is your iQ?

I'll add them to the list. I'm going to try Paint Master, after their Ding Master department did a great job removing some dents on my Lexus (wind + big wheelie bin next to car = fail) and I might try another local company called Simtek.

The thing I'm concerned about is how the the area that has been stripped down to plastic will turn out, can they make it level with the rest of the paintwork, and the colour match, being as it's sparkly and not a solid black.

Thanks, that's useful to know.

How good was their sparkly paint match?

could you do the same as this. at least it will hide it

I had considered wrapping them, but with the wraps being so tight I wasn't sure whether it would mask the area where the paint is missing or if you would be able to notice it. It's still an option and I will ask my tint man on Tuesday because he does wraps too.

I've already looked at them, but they are both scuffed.

Thanks for the effort though. It's appreciated.

Chips Away should contact me tomorrow, but I hope whoever fixes it can make it look as close to this as possible (minus the dirt):

The front/rear corner 'protectors' look like they could have been made as separate pieces that clip into place rather than be one integral part of the front/rear aprons.

Wonder why Toyota didn't design the car that way?

Actually no I don't... it's because they can make more £££ out of repairs.

Morning MarkyPancake,

Sorry to hear about your car, I recently had a guy drop a washing machine on the exact same spot as yours!! (don't ask haha)

Wrapping I think could work, the wrap Raj has had done I think would actually look nice on your car, the guy he used is well known, and does do a nice job. Would probably be the cheapest solution to getting the car to look good again. Even if you needed to fill the scuff slightly, you could do so quite easily, and you don't have to worry about being completely neat, as the wrap would cover the whole corner.

Hope you get it sorted.

Dan

Chips Away are coming over on Wednesday to fix it. They're confident they can make it as invisible as possible. I'll post picture of the end result.

That's better.

Looks good in the photo, like a nice job.

What is it like up close? would you know it was a repair? I've never used them before, as wasn't sure if the finished look was good.

Maybe you could treat her to an all over wash now haha......

It's invisible and that's what I wanted. The colour match is fantastic.

I need to clean it, but the roads have been really muddy where I live and work and they said to not wash or polish the area for five days.

do you mind saying what you paid?

£123.38.

told you chips away was good, it looks good ion the pic.

Thanks for the recommendation.
