4 Point Harnesses In A Two.....

Recommended Posts

Right, 4 pointers, usually the shoulder straps go to the back seat belt mounts.... spot the problem yet?! <_<

Has anyone got some in and where did you attach the shoulder straps.......

Was thinking i could weld a couple of nice sturdy mounds onto the new sub frames im building at the weekend, would this be enough to satisfy mr MOT.....

Any info greatly appreciated. :help: (again)

Could you bolt the two rear straps to the same point (ie existing seat belt point) a la 3 point harness? Might look a little skew wiff?

and to adhere to FIA regs the slope of the harness from the mounting point must be downwards (no mounting to the bottom ot the car for the top of the belts .. could you imagine your spine in an accident if all 4 points were mounted to the one place  )

LOL, they arent going in mine, they are going in the shock mobile........

Anyway think i have it sussed..... two 5mm stainless plates, about 200x50mm, one each side of the firewall (unless the back of the wall is a bit non-flat.... in which case one on the front and large washers on the back). Then bolt the two harness eyes onto the plates, through the firewall, should be nice and strong and look swish. Mounting height, im gonna try and get them near enough level.... but depends no the height of the seat backs, cant go mounting them on the window

There will be oooodles of piccies on the shock site sompoint next week i suspect, along with amount of blood loss, number of profanities exclaimed etc etc :D

you will need the plate on the back. no point in having the reinforcement in front as the bolt and washers will pull through in an accident.if need be then flatten any raised areas. would be good practice to weld the rear plate on (the one outside the interior) but dont seam weld it just 4x25mm beads will do

Not a chance in a billion million years im going near that car with a welder...... for starters its just be re-sprayed and the slightest mark will result in instant castration , plus many other factors like its a lot of hassle, and its never going near a track....its a show car.....

Will definatly be putting something substantial on the back, not just an average washer....
