hi,

I'm new here :) bought an avensis over the weekend, 2002 model :)

Liking the car so far... very smooth on th road.

Just have one issue i was hoping to get some help on. My steering seems to be a little to the right i.e. off centre. Also when i turn the car to the right i'm finding i have to turn the wheel more right than i would have to when turning left doing a similar turn. Could this be the wheel allignment?

Can anyone recommened a garage to get this checked, i'm in east london.

Cheers for your help.

Any decent tyre supplier will be able to check your tracking.... they can centre the steering wheel whilst they do it. Good luck thumbsup.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

Had my wheel alignemnt carried out and was told the subframe is little out of place :( hence the alignment hasn't made a difference really.

I've sourced the subframe, cost seems to average around £70'ish.

Going to get a quote from a garage to find out how much this costs to get sorted. Anybody got any ideas on how much this would cost on average to get replaced. I always feel like i'm getting ripped off at nearly every car garage i've been to.

Thanks.

i personally use main agents for repairs, they can be more expensive but past experience with my previous car a Jaguar is that the difference in cost is not huge between main agents and independents.

often main agents will have a time for a job and will only charge for what Toyota specify whereas an independent will charge for the time the job takes so if there are complications you possibly could end up paying more.

having said that if you find a really good garage then stick with them.

one other thing regarding main dealers is that they have a standard to comply with and if you are not happy they will be more inclined to try to sort it out.

others will have had different experience with main agents but it would be worth speaking to a main agent to get a price and find out how competitive they are.
