Parking Sensors

We are about to purchase a 2007 corolla verso spirit and we are thinking about getting parking sensors installed. My question is whether its worth getting the proper Toyota ones - priced £450, or if any other cheaper brands will do the same job - thus saving us some money. Views appreciated

Hi,

We are just about to receive our new Verso and have opted for the Toyota sensors.

I have never bought or used after market sensors, but largely because they look cheap hanging from the boot.

The only main difference (other than looks) is that they will not link into the reverse gear, and therefore you will have to turn them on and off.

Hope this helps.

Pop down to your local HALFRAUDS i mean Halfords and they do a nice fully fitted kit that will be alot cheaper than that its from about £100 - £300 ( dont quote me on that been abit since i worked for them ) and DOES link to your reverse gear so no manual turning them on like AllyProven suggested.

Here is a link to there website with options listed the £209 kit is about the best and have personal fitted hundreds of them with no issues or complaints.

I fitted a set, which I purchased off eBay (new) for £30. This included the drill bit to make the holes in the bumper. These were black and my car is black so there was no problem with colour co-ordination. My recollection is that you paid another £5 for different colours. Dead easy to fix(about an hour), connecting to the reversing light on the nearside. I have had them for about 2 years and the only problem is that when it is raining they sound continuously - presume the wet affects the signal.

Absolutely go for them! I wouldn't be without the front and rear sensors fitted to my 58 D4D SR, not just when parking but in any close-quarters manoeuvring situation.

I'm about to fit some too to my Verso, can you give any tips?

Did you need to take the bumper off?

Are there any marks inside bumper to locate sensor positions?

Is there a good route into vehicle for wiring?

Easy to identify reverse light feed wire?

Space for electronics box and speaker?

Thanks in advance.

there are plenty of good quality sensors onthe market.its absolute rubbish you have to switch them on as they wired into your reversing light.and they dont hang down what ever that means.when fitted they look like ome.

dont get ripped off by toyota prices.specialist will fit them for you if your not sure about doing them yourself.

if you do, sensor position is is inportent.what i did with my last car a mondeo was look at the same model in a dealers forcourt fiited with sensors then take a measurement from the ground to centre of sensor on any outside position sensor.then line by eye where the is fitted say under tail lamp/stop light/rev light.pretty easy.the poition will be the same for the other outside sensor.when you marked the position for both outside sensors on your car measure between the marks, then divide that distance by 3 this will give the position of the other two drilling points.most kits come with instructions and hole cutter.check and check again before cutting holes as you cant retify once hole is cut.

anyway goodluck whatever you decide.
