Prius Gen 2 Servicing

Hi all,

My Prius gen 2 is due for 4 year 60k miles service and my local Toyotas quoted me £288. Parts to change are oil, oil filter, air filter, possibly aircon filter and less likely, but possibly sparks plugs (probably not as you need to changed them every 40k miles or 4 years). The oil, oil filter, air filter, possibly aircon filter are cost about £70-80 so I am tempted to change those by myself/local small garage and save £200.

1. Please advise if anything else need to be change.

2. Is Mr T doing anything special with the car so it worth to spend extra £200 and go to main dealer.

Any experiences are welcome, thanks a lot in advance.

imho a main dealer service is always the best option for a Prius. I wouldn't let my local guy touch my Gen2 and certainly not my Gen3... not really sure I'd let him lose on the wife's Aygo either...

Main reason that I have would be the resale value - a main dealer stamp, especially the one you hope to use for a future purchase, definitely helps...

This is only my own opinion, others may have differing views.....

Apologise for getting late, but I was away for few days. No, this price doesn’t include MOT.

imho the prius is seen as a very complex thing by purchasers- so anything other than main dealer service history may put a purchaser right off. There have been other threads where possible buyers have had a "back street" service history and the advice is always keep away.
