Throttle Response

the last approx 20% of my throttle stiffens up slightly which i am told enables extra power to the car, my question is does the extra power come from the fact that the throttle is open further or does the extra 20% of movement send a message to the cars computer to give extra performance a bit like a chipped car would do?

there seems so little info on the avensis range even in the brochure

if you mean the 'click' feeling when you bottom out the throttle it is simply an override to the speed limiter when activated.

i have it on the 1.8 and at first thought it was a dodgy pedal ( i work at burnaston and we obviously never go anywhere near 100% throttle when moving cars there) i only found out after asking some one about it.

i do wish it did give a power boost though lol

I have never heard anything about this extra power bit, I have always accepted that when the accelerator is pressed then more power is delivered huh.gif

As for your accelerator being somewhat stiff, I don't know why this should be as mine is not unsure.gif Take it back and get the linkage greased up yes.gif

No it is not a problem i spoke with Toyota about it and they knew straight away what i was talking about the throttle is depressed but the last say 20% is stiffer and apparently it is an extra feature that gives extra power when you need to floor the accelerator. they definately knew about it but i just wondered where the extra power comes from.

John's chips are great and the extra power comes from the lashings of vinegar and ketchup ;)

your dealer needs to be shot!!

it is not a power boost feature at all. it as i said above. try it, turn on your speed limiter (button just to the right of your steering wheel) then set using your cruise control lever (same as setting cruise speed) the set speed will show on the multi function display.try to accelerate past the speed using only the first 80% throttle (to the stop feeling) you will notice your speed doesn't increase. now press to the floor, you will find that you now accelerate.

Thanks Dawesy, you have answered my question, my dealer is superb and perhaps i should have made myself clearer it was Toyota customer relations i spoke to whe told me is was a boost function but they did not explain how it works.

I phoned them because i could not find anything in the handbook about it although it could be hidden in there somewhere.

thanks again for the answer which explains excellently what the function is for.

regards,

Robin

Question for Dawesy ...... if we shot all the dealers who told porkies ...... there wouldn't be many dealers left to carry out the warranty work? Kingo & Co could get really busy though!:yahoo:.

(Just trying out a Pheonix999 type forum joke).;).

Bye for now, Pete.
