ooops! Sorry Stew. Not had that one [yet]. Sounds like intermittent connection (or an intermittent lack of it) on a cable? a "dry solder joint"?

Did the screen flicker or just the sound?

I'm sure the omnipresent dark lord from Cyberdyne corp. electronics dept. will be here soon with an explaination. :)

No, no probs with sound or any other funtion, just the LCD display was all gobbledygook bit hard to explain but it said radio one about five times but on each line the top half of the words was missing, then it went blank still orange glow but no writing, then i tapped it repeatedly on the screen and it all came back as normal, not tried it since..Stew

O.D.L.F.C.C.E.D? nah, can't make anything from that either.

My learned friend further up the thread is probably right - duff internal connection or possibly the radio software "went off into the woods", then did an internal reset, but sorry Stew, I expect it is the first, from the description. I bet it will do it again as the temperature changes in the car.

There's usually a flexible ribbon cable to the display and it is very often the joint between the cable and the display board.

Long ago, I had a nasty French car, which developed a duff display connection and I know of clock modules that had that as a common fault.

Stew, are you still in Warranty? (I mean the car really, although a young model like yourself should be :)).

Sorry, I totally misunderstood that one. For some reason I got it in my head that the sound was getting broken up. I am sure I read on this forum that someone had their headunit replaced because of LCD issues. Although I have a vague recollection that it was due to LCD "fading out" ? I am searching, but without much success so far.

...and not quick enough... AGAIN!? :)

I only take solace in knowing that it is probably because he doesn't use the keyboard, but some mental transducer interface that materialises his thoughts on screen. Home-made, of course . :D

Anyways, the thread I was thinkg about (maybe) is here, post 10 /11.

I had same thing happen two or three times in summer(if you could call it a summer) Always seemed to be when it was hot/sunny. It always righted itself and not had any problem for a while now.Sound was never affected just couldnt see what station/track was on
