Acquiring Starlet

Hi

I am being given a Toyota Starlet S reg (in UK so 1978 I guess). I don't know any other details about the car except that it is supposed to be in good condition and has done 29000 miles. It hasn't run for the last 12 months.

I have searched the web for info on these cars and came across this forum.

What is the situation regarding availabilty of spare parts in the UK? Any websites dealing with these? Is there an owners club in the UK?

I don't know what it needs yet (if anything) but it's best to be prepared.

Any advice on any weak points on this model would be gratefully recieved also.

probably need new Battery..an a few other minor things with it being out of commission for so long but i shouldn't have thought anything too serious as these are solid cars..

spare parts can be easily located in jap salvage or real thing from toyota dealers all through uk!!!!!!!

I had one as my first car, my introduction into RWD

Obviously it's going to need a thorough going over, all fluids changed, gearbox, engine, coolant, diff.

Brakes will need checking aswell.
