Annoying Noise

Hi there

My Avensis 2.2 d4d tourer(55,000miles) has an annoying noise that comes in briefly at 1400rpm and disappears approx 2000rpm. It appears to come from the air filter box. This appears secure. The air filter does not appear to be a Toyota product. Could this be the problem.

Any Ideas?

Hello, I think you will find that the plastic case that contains the air filter element is vibrating causing the noise you describe, a little diy investigation should find exactly where.
