hi, i have just bought a 53 avensis D-4D T3-X. the day after i bought it i was drivingaway after starting the car and it lost all power and would only go to 2000 revs in any gear!! i turned off the ignition and started again. the cars been fine since but engine management light has also been on since. can anyone please please advise??? before i pay for costly diagnostics

I would doubt the turbo is on it's way out, more likely an EGR or SCV valve issue

ok mate

yoour problem is with EGR valve -- when you remove it and dismantle you ll see it as clogged with carbon.

but it is only consequence but not a real reason. firstly you have to evaluate when was last serviced and what has been done. in case the car missed doctor for a long time - the possible problem is with EGR regular cleaning, but in case of last regular services records availability then your problem is all four injectors that are asking for help. cheers/Igor
