Hello

I am new to the Forum membership, which is really intersesting but have owned an Aygo for over three years.

I enjoy driving the Aygo and cover 15,000 miles a year mosly commuting on Motorways between Worcestershire and Birmingham. I swapped a Benz SLK for the Aygo and despite the differences in size of engine I still travel in the real world just as quick but far more economically.

There have been a few difficulties with trim, exhaust wearing out and water pump but all replaced under warranty however I have now doubts about long term durability so I have taken an extended two year warranty not something I really expected with Toyota's reputation.

However generally I am pleased, I like the dealer and will continue to use them although I did not really care for the sales team or handover. I like the engine and I have the MMT transmission which I think performs well as long as you remember it is a semi automatic. One annoying niggle is the lack of respect you get from other drivers I guess because the car is small who assume you will drive at 50 mph in the middle lane.

Welcome to TOC

Driving at 50 in lane 2 of a motorway?? isn't that compulsory???

lane 1 is always full of bumps and ruts and potholes!!!!

On a more sensible note, 15k per annum on motorways would lead me to think that perhaps a 3 cylinder 1 litre engine is not really big enough and you are bound to wear something out! after all, the Aygo is sold as a city car??

Thank you for the welcome messages!

Concerning the motorway miles, it is a fair point. I thought that with a low weight and a modern engine it would perhaps be suited to 65 -75 mph cruising and that this would result in less stress for the car than city driving.

But I take your point, the car is ideal for urban driving with good visibility.
