Auris Steel Wheels

Hello All.

If you could I would like you to answer a question that I have about fitting smaller steel wheels to my wifes 2008 SR180.

Heres the thing, we need to have a spare set of wheel for the winter with snow tyres fitted and is cheaper if the tyres are less than 17 inch rims.

So the long and short of my question is..........will the toyota steel wheels of the likes of an Auris 1.4 fit onto the SR180?? and what size of steel wheels and tyres are on a smaller engined Auris?

I hope someone can help. Thanks

I dont have to worry about the winter snow much because I am also a Toyota fan but in the form of the Hilux

...and what size of steel wheels and tyres are on a smaller engined Auris?...

195/65 R15, but I don't think they will fit sr180, you need at least 16" wheels.

Thanks for the info tavy at least I have a starting point at the local breakers now  . I was hoping that 16 inch was the norm.

Maybe there are other Toyota wheels that may fit?

Worst case scenario do any of the Auris have 17" steel wheels?

I just dont want to spend loads of cash on wheels when its the winter tyres that are the important thing.

You're welcome, FAZAT! A friend of mine fitted 215/55 R16 winter tyres/wheels on his Auris and he's happy with them...

surely the cost of buying a set of smaller steel wheels and winter tyres wont be much less than just getting some 17inch winter tyres. also the handling will be different, and they will look crap ? i was told that putting anything less than the standard 17inch fitted to my sr would turn the handling to mash, this was advice from honest john in the motoring section of the telegraph paper

forevered, you are correct in many ways the car will look crap when the steel wheels are on but I dont really care how it looks over the winter period anyway as long as it gets my wife home when the snow is on the ground.

It would cost to much money to change round a set of 4 tyres twice a year from normal grade to snow tyres, if I was lucky £10 cash for each tyre change over, thats £40 to change and £40 to change back, £80 a year!! and some garages charge up to £20 +VAT each to change over a tyre and ballance it

It will be much easier for me to just swap over for a whole set of wheels and tyres.

Even a cheep set of scabby alloys with a dusting of mat black paint would do me just fine B)

Dont get me wrong my wife would preffer to have a nice set of "snow"alloys but its a money thing as we are due our first child in March.

Cheers

if you go ahead and fit smaller steel wheels on i would check with your insurance company ,because it will possibly afect the cars handling ,and it may void your cars insurance, they may refuse to pay out in the event of an accident if they inspect your car and find the different wheels

Insurance companys...... :censor: aaaaaaah  they are a pain in the ass. You can fit cheep crap nasty tyres that are rubbish at holding your car to the road without a problem but but stick some furry dice in the window and they will find some sort of fault to stop a payout.

TBH I never even thought about the insurance company this time!! robbing b******s the lot of them.

Right who has a set of original Auris SR180 alloys for sale? :D
