Help - Toyota Alarm

The alarm in my MK II MR2 is'nt working properly, when it goes off the lights flash but there is no noise! I thought the siren could be the problem but I cant find one anywhere. Does anybody know if the standard system uses a separate siren or does it use the horn, also if there is a separate siren then where is it? If anybody has any ideas as to what could be wrong please let me know.

If it's anything like the Toyota alarm of a RAV 4, there is a key operated switch for the Siren on the Siren Unit itself. As to where this is located, I'm afraid I have no idea. My alarm is installed ina space below one of the front headlights, but it is aftermarket. I have the workshop manual on the car somewhere, and will try to dig it out, though since moving recently, it may be hard to find. I know others have the manual, so maybe they could look it up.

Cheers, I'm not sure the layout is the same on my car, the alarm ECU is definately in a different place, I'll have a look tomorrow when it is light.

The sounder for the UK standard "security" system is a horn attached to the inner wing on the drivers side in the engine bay.

Everything might be on the opposite site since the manual is for a US car...

I HATE my standard toyota alarm, so most of the time (apart from overnight) i just lock it with the key.

Sometimes it locks, then doesn't unlock for ages.... and I look like a ***** pressing to button and walking around the car.

Apart from the thing not making a noise when it goes off the alarm seems ok. Might as well have the thing working since it is on the car, its still under warrenty from the place where I bought it, i might just take it back to them and let them sort it out.
