He Must Be Cuckoo!

Turning back the clock can be a struggle - but spare a thought for one museum curator who has more than 600 to wind back before Sunday.

Roman Piekarski, the curator of the Cuckooland Museum in Tabley, Cheshire, has so many clocks that he has to start changing the time before everyone else.

Mr Piekarski, 58, has collected 625 antique cuckoo clocks from around the world since his museum opened 20 years ago.

He runs Cuckooland with his brother Maz, and the pair will start winding the clocks back on Saturday in preparation for this weekend's time change.

"Some years it takes a good week to do because it's hard to remember which clocks you've wound and which clocks you haven't," he explained.

"We get loads of friends coming in to help us and it's a fun time of year - there's lots of camaraderie.

"We don't change every clock as some are so rare and valuable that we don't touch them, but it's a good opportunity to give them all a once-over."

Mr Piekarski said that sometimes even he has trouble remembering when the clocks change.

"There was one year when we spent so much time winding the clocks in the museum that we forgot to do the ones in our house.

"We felt so stupid - imagine us, with 625 clocks, forgetting to change the clocks in our own home."
