Hi Guys. Had my T180 2 years now and was thinking of changing but cant find anything better... or afford to !!. I was thinking of fitting a performance chip, the one Lindop have. Has anybody fitted this to T180 and had any problems. What are the benefits other than extra power? Cheers guys

Talk to Big Kev. He has one on his SR180 and loves it. Goes like a rat up a pipe too.

.....and apart from a rodent up a gutter outlet, it lends what I can only describe as a further degree of flexibility, but please bear in mind I only had the car but a few weeks when I bought the Lindop kit second hand from Mereside (where art thee now, Nigel....?) I mention its second handness for good reason.....reliability. It worked for him, and has been faultless for me.....no "limp mode" episodes due to cheap and nasty electronics.

Are you anywhere near Scotlandshire? Cop in for a droffee and a test drive....guarantee you'll buy one if you try one....and I will finally get an invite to Kingo's Golf Outing.

Big Kev

Cheers Big Kev, North Scotlandshire!.. How easy to install? And emissions for MOT?

if kev can do it then I'm sure he'll do it for you.

Kevs motor hasn't reached the MOT stage yet.

Me? I chipped nummer one RAV and it passes the emission tests fine----but then its an Apexi power FC ecu !

As Bothy sez....if I can do it, even Local Hero could learn. Am away from 10/11 through 24/11....order one for your Xmas, and I'll fit it for you if necessary. Even better if yer near Nairn....not been upfra weekend for ages.

Furramore, if Bothy's gets through the emission tests, anybody's will.

Boffs....forget it....house well alarmed.

Somebody mention pies boyo's?

The T180 kit is dead easy to fit, even for Big_Kev from Scotlandshire ;) Just requires you to know how to plug in a couple of connections. If you PM me your email address offroadster I will send you the fitting destructions and a bit of info on them, you can read a bit about them on our website HERE

I sell a whole load of these to a customer in Australia (For Hilux 3.0) and he reckons they "go like a stabbed rat" once fitted

Kingo

Cheers Parts King, already had a look at the website. Theres a few of these chips around but if a Toyota Dealer is selling these then gets my vote. A quick look at installation would be good cheers

AYE! I resemble that remark, I don,t have a T180 however i have had a Lindop "chip" on my 136 bhp supplied + fitted by Lindop 3 yrs ago, It has been superb + faultless, no probs with servicing or emissions, slight bit of extra smoke if you really welly it.. Extra insurance (if you inform them :shutit:) about £50, highly reccomend them.. Stew

PS my brother has a TUNIT one on his 4.2 + has had a few problems although it has been sorted now after a few attempts..

You know I would love to add one of these to the car but I justify £300 so close to xmas time! It's Toby's first birthday on Sunday and my beautiful wife has invited loads of people to the party, fully catered by me! I'm optimistic for some point in 2011 though :)

Hmmph. Phoned Privilege to see how much my policy would increase for the T180 tuning kit. They declined - wouldn't even think about it "on that type of car". It's not exactly a BMW M3. :crybaby:

With mine, I entered all my details on go-compare, you get to a page where it asks if car is modified, answer yes it then gives a list of mods including ecu upgrade, tick the box, it may ask for expected power increase,, answer 20%

on completing the form it will quote all those companies prepared to insure you, A LOT will not cover modified cars, interestingly I phoned toyotas own insurance, I was told if its a Toyota part, supplied by a toyota dealer, and in my case fitted by a toyota dealer, then it would not incur a further charge, but TBH this was only the young lady on the phone although she did check with someone senior  Quite honestly I cannot foresee any circumstance where anyone would ever know you have one fitted, I spoke to an insurance assesor, and he said they don't even look for them, although if you are 18yrs old, with a vauxhall nova, with a 10" dia exhaust + K+N stickers + Brembo brakes they may look a bit closer, but other than that its a box the size of a cig pkt, it took me 2 days to find mine + I knew i had one, but being very PC, you must inform your insurance of all performance mods.... Stew
