If there is a specific Toyota alarm available then just ring a dealer up and ask... they don't bite :)

If not, or they say no but they can fit aftermarket types, then approach an independent specialist and ask them.

No they're not. My Auris TR hasn't got an alarm. My previous Corolla Colour Collection didn't either. Both the Auris and Corolla have an immobiliser and dead locking.

Reminds me of when I ordered my Corolla back in 2006. The Colour Collection spec was based on the T3, and, according to the brochure, the optional alarm was optional only on the T3 upwards. The dealer said an alarm wasn't available for the Colour Collection.

Initially Toyota GB said the alarm couldn't be fitted to the Colour Collection as the warranty would be affected by the fitment of an accessory not available for that spec.

However after I made another couple of calls where they admitted the Colour Collection was based on the T3, and was mechanically and electronically the same as the T3, they relented, and supplied the dealer with the part number details so they could order the correct kit. The cost of the Toyota alarm including fitting, was £ 400 (back in October 2006).

I stand corrected. They've been on my last three, so wrongly assumed they all had one

lies toyota dealers always bite..

On a serious note i would never go back to a toyota dealer to have an alaerm fitted they will empty your bank account and stuill want an arm and a leg to do it, your best bet is to get a clifford cat1 alarm fitting by a REGISTERED fitter. You can can a local stereo place that has one very easy ( eg. sextons ) and to be very honest with yopu the toyota alarms are pants anyways.

Speak to your insurance company and see if it will reduce your premiums to have one fitted.

I know someone who had a CAT1 alarm fitted, and the insurance company were not interested and only offered to lower his premiums if he fitted a tracker device.

As theft deterrent, alarms are not really that useful as 90% of the public will ignore them going off, and robbers will only usually break glass for something visible and easy to grab in seconds, and if they are going to steal your car its usually easier to come round your house with a bat and persuade you to hand over the keys.

I've found that an alarm sticker in the window is just as effective and a lot cheaper in the past.
