PLeased to meet you.

Just bought the XT4 D4D 2.2D 3 weeks ago to battle with the winter weather in Scotland. The Z3 just wasnt cutting the mustard in the snow for some unknown reason and sat on the drive from Christmas Eve until April!

Already done almost 3k miles in Hink (the boss named it)mostly due to a return trip to the south coast. Returning an average 46.5 mpg so far and really liking it.......Except for the awful gear change between 1st and 2nd!!! Doesnt matter what I try I can stop the crunching. You'd think after driving for 32 years I could get it right. :( Allowing the revs to die before changing to 2nd helps, but then Im almost at a standstill again. 2nd isnt strong enough to pull away smoothly without revving the gonads off it. Bottoming the clutch pedal to the floor helps too but it wears on the legs when in town and means I have to sit further forward thank I would normally.

Evenso, its otherwise very comfy and goes better on the M6 at 80 than 70 (better mpg and quieter).Still new to me though so lwets see how it goes.

regards..

wow id take a pit stop if i was you. ;) :P

and on a serious note grind from 1st to 2nd would make me think either clutch or gear linkage, as we ruled out bad driving by your first post :) hope that helps.
