We have a toyota carina executive 2.0 litre. i want to get a new set of wheels for it as these are looking a bit old. they and 14" and i wondered how big i could go? i was looking at some newer 17" avensis alloys. would they fit?

Thanks Danny

If you put 17" rims on your Carina you have to have very low profile tyres. It is important that the overall diameter off the tyre will not be too much different than the original wheel diameter. If you have too big difference from the original you will get wrong speed on the speedometer etc... Don't forget the comfort too. Low profile tyres are not famous for their comfort.

As far as I know the Avensis have the same bolt pattern and also almost the same offset as the Carina. I haven't double checked with the last generation of Avensis though.

If you have lowered your car I would recomend you to think twice before you go for the 17" rims. There could be problems with the wheelarch etc...

I've got Subaru 16" alloys on mine with 205/55's I think.

Offset is perfect and its lowered 30mm on Eibach springs.

What you have to look out for is that there is not a lot of space in the rear between the leg and std arch for much wider wheels.
