Live in Fairbanks, Alaska, and traded-in my 2009 Subaru Forester X 5MT (17,000 miles on odometer) for a 2010 6-cylinder Rav 4 (16,000 miles) last week. My wife didn't really want to drive the forester, but loves the Rav 4, although she has to get used to the auto transmission (she has driven manual for years). Anyways, the Rav 4 is a blast to drive, and I purchased it for her.

You will probably see me around here asking questions :)

P.S.

Instead of buying extended warranty from the local Toyota dealer, bought a Platinum 100,000-mile x 8 years from Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota, Kansas, and got a great deal. Paid $944.00 instead of $2,460 from the local dealer :)

I didn't pay attention to the geographical location of this forum until it was too late :)

Anyway, Fairbanks is located in the interior of Alaska, and the temperatures in this area are quite cold. The forecast is for -27 degrees C. by Wednesday, which is not very cold considering that by this time of the season it often is perhaps -32 to -50 degrees C. It has been snowing lightly for the past two days, and the cloud cover provides warmer temperatures.
