Slight Power Drain

I was driving this morning with no problems but whilst reversing onto my drive I had a sudden power drain (not enough to cut out but everything went dim, ie lights dash and headlights) I had been driving with heated mirrors, headlights, wipers and heater on. Should I be worried? My first thoughts were... alternator on its way out or faulty power steering? ANY advice appreciated.

The Battery should have kept the lights ok I'd have thought. Have you checked the Battery connections are clean and tight? Also I had a car where the Battery could move up and contact the bonnet. Sudden electric and engine power loss and confusion until I saw the burn marks on the bonnet.

for some reason (maybe the small battery) I have found the terminals seem to come loose - so check the obvious first. Then you can check the alternator output by measuring voltage at the Battery.
