Just Bought A Yaris Tr

Hi all, my first post. We bought a 2008 1.3TR 3 door yesterday for my wife in lovely Decuma Grey, to replace our 10 year old Yaris 1.0GS. We've been looking at i10's, Fiestas and god know what else, but we kept coming back to a Yaris.

I notice some TR's have fog lamps and some don't (ours doesn't) Anyone know why this is as I thought they were standard?

They have juggled the TR specs quite extensively through 2008 and 2009.

Sometimes they had fog lights and sometimes not. Sometimes they had all 9 airbags and then for the first part of 2009 they lost the curtain & knee airbags.

Then later in 2009 they got the airbags back but lost the alloy wheels, and then they got the alloys back again.....

All in all, even the salesmen lost track of what was standard and what not and we got quite a few posts on this forum from people who didn't quite get the spec they were expecting on their new TR...

(Mind you, I'd just be tempted to find some circular LED lights, fit them into the existing blanking panels and wire them into the ignition as daytime running lights.... Even though the fog lights look good, you'd probably never use them...)

I considered Decuma Grey, which I think is a really attractive colour, when I ordered my 2 week old TR but went for Venetian Silver because of the silvered exterior door handles. Specified in the 2010 brochure and by the salesman. Looking at the options, when deciding which colour, the silver handles looked a bit garish and "in your face" with both Decuma Grey and Blue. My car has Venetian Silver coloured handles which came as a surprise and a bit of a disappointment as I would have chosen Decuma Grey if I'd known about this change in spec. to car coloured handles! Obviously don't know their Yaris from their elbows?

I must be lucky then to have fog lights (waste of space save your cash), all the airbags (not a waste of space) and alloy wheels?

Thanks for the info on the fogs. Wouldn't take too long to fit those I suppose. Might wait till the summer months though. Luckily we got the 9 airbags and alloys, as well as the matching handles

Yes I had a Civic for 18 months from mid 2007. I don't visit as much now as it has changed on there a bit.

Have you still got your Alfa?

We now have a 59 plate 1.33 tr Yaris, an 06 Clio dCi for my commute to work & an 09 Peugeot 4007 4x4 for family & towing duties.

I have a 2008 Yaris TR as well (in Chilli Red) and it does not have the front foglights. Someone on my street has a 57 Yaris TR in black, which does not have the foglights either. However the salesman whom I dealt with was quite knowledgeable in the sense he could tell me how the TR spec kept changing and which years to expect which features on.

Have you still got your Alfa?

I kept the Alfa GT for just short of three years, not one problem in all that time. Traded it in July for a Mk6 Golf GTI (I dare not say that on Civinfo!)

Looking forward to picking up the Yaris on Saturday, although I will be sad to see our old one go. Wife has been busy getting new car mats, new air freshener and all that mallarky

Another top car for you there Hartside, we are more than happy with our Yaris (when I get chance to drive it).

Our TR is the end of October 09 spec (I think each spec had a 2 week cycle) with alloys, 6 speed gearbox, stop start yet no fog lights or knee / curtain airbags. One thing I don't like about the latest one is the change to analogue dials as they appear cluttered in the binacle.

Like you no matter what small car I tried to show the Mrs she kept saying that she wanted a Yaris. When this one's PCP is up I don't think I'll even get het to any other garage!!
